Hub Notes: Tlatelolco Memorial Proecession, 1/31/08

April 3, 2008

A woman from Mexico City told me today about attending an annual commemoration of the Tlatelolco massacre. She said hundreds of people got together on October 2nd to walk into the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in complete silence. The silent procession was extremely powerful, she said, especially as the participants emerged into the square with only the sound of their footsteps echoing off Pani’s massive buildings.

The Mexico City neighborhood of Tlatelolco is the subject for Hub partner Museo Tamayo’s presentation, “Tlatelolco and the negotiation of future imaginaries.”
